Overview
Digital Potentiometer Board is provided with a digital potentiometer with SPI Interface.
The board includes a single-channel digital potentiometer MCP41010 with value ranging from 0 to 10 kΩ.
IDC10 connectors enable easy connection with peripheral modules.
Description
The Digital Potentiometer Board features a single-channel digital potentiometer MCP41010 with 8-bit resolution (256 wiper steps) and industry-standard SPI™ serial interface. The wiper position varies linearly and is controlled via the SPI interface. The resistance value of the digital potentiometer goes up to 10 kohm. It features outstanding AC/DC characteristics and consumes less than 1 µA during static operation. The digital potentiometer is used in applications such as audio equipment (volume and tone controls), servo-motor control, battery charging and control, communications (line impedance matching), power supplies, instrumentation (gain, offset adjust), LCD contrast control and programmable filters.
Examples
Examples provided with this board will show you how to connect the digital potentiometer to a microcontroller easily. Each example contains a detailed description of the relevant program including comments. All examples can be downloaded from this page as well.
- Demonstration of the MCP41010 single-channel digital potentiometer with PIC MCUs. Changing value of digital potentiometer from 0 to 10 kΩ.
- Reading analog voltage input from A/D converter channel 0 and setting digital potentiometer to proportional value.
- Reading data from USART and setting digital potentiometer value to received data.
