PICPLC16 BOX is a system designed for controlling industrial systems and machines.
Also this development tool can be used as home or office device.
16 inputs with optocouplers and 16 relays (up to 5A) can satisfy many industrial needs
as well as home needs. PICPLC16 BOX can serve as remote control system by means of RS485
communication. There is also CAN communication availabe for connecting PICPLC16 BOX into
CAN network. Each relay has its own varistor so that the spark does not damage the contacts.
In a box, the system may be used in moist and dusty environment.
The PICPLC16 BOX is industrial and home development board for Microchip PIC microcontrollers. It allows PIC microcontrollers to be interfaced with external circuits and a broad range of
peripheral devices, allowing user to concetrate on software development.
Protective box is well designed and can be used in home enviroment as well in industrial.
Also PICPLC16 BOX can be easily mounted on the wall. There are screw's on the backside
that allow easy mounting. Character LCD 4x20 is also included with PICPLC16 BOX for easy
information display. MMC Card slot and Real Time Clock is available on board
for easy data acquisition and data time-stamping. Very fast USB 2.0 programmer
for programming PIC MCU for a very short time. This system comes with PIC18F8722 on board.
There are also RS232 connector for communicating with PC or other devices via USART.
PS/2 connector is also available for connecting system with keyboard. This system is
designed to be stable and noise resistant.
Jumpers for enabling and disabling USB programmer on board.
RS-485 communication for connecting multiple devices into a network.
RS-232 communication for connecting to PC or another device.
Screw terminal for easier connection with the external peripherals.
Input and Output connector for easy connecting with external circuits.
CAN communication for device further connecting with CAN network.
Selectable relay power supply.
16 input lines with optocouplers (fast HP2630 optocouplers with Smitth trigger).
PIC18F8722 is the microcontroller powering the PICPLC16. 128KB of memory, 80 pins, ADC ...
Each Relay have LED for optical signalization.
Power supply supervisor enables stable power supply.
PS/2 connector for PC keyboard.
MMC\SD card slot - For MMC\SD memory cards.
Keypad enables easy device setup and control.
Real Time Clock PFC8583 with battery supply.
USB connector for In-System programming with PICFlash2 programmer.
Digital thermometer DS1820 for measuring temperature from -55ºC to 125ºC.
Potentiometer for LCD and GLCD contrast.
Reset circuit.
Power and USB link signalization.
Power supply input is 24V. System is supplied from external power source.
You can easily operate with PICPLC16 BOX from left and right side of devices. Protective caps are easy to remove so all major functions (keypad entry, MMC/SD card manipulation, reset function, etc.) are available.
PICPLC16 BOX can be easy mounted on the wall. Screws placed on the back of the board tightens device with wall and this device can be used as home or office device.
When using a character LCD in 8-bit mode, the connector that is shared with the GLCD is used. The character LCD communicates with the MCU via a 8-bit data bus. The commonly used LCD for PICPLC BOX is 4x20 LCD.
PICPLC16 BOX development system is a full-featured development board for the Microchip PIC microcontrollers. It was designed to allow students or engineers to easily exercise and explore the capabilities of the PIC microcontrollers. It allows the PIC microcontroller to be interfaced with external circuits to a broad range of the peripheral devices, allowing the user to concentrate just on the software. Figure on the left illustrates the first contact with the development system. On a silkscreen there are marks beside every component. These marks describe connection to microcontroller, operation modes, and some other useful notes. As a result, need for additional schematics is minimized, because all information are already on the board.
USB 2.0 on-board programmer - PICFlash2: You will get the USB programmer which doesn't use boot loader or any similar way of programming. The whole PIC memory and all pins are available to you. If you do use boot loader, you have to leave some RAM memory for this propose, and it is generally not a such good idea if you program in Pascal, C or Basic. Also if you use low-level programming (5 VDC instead 12.5 VDC), note that you lose RB6 pin. PICFlash2 have voltage pump and generate 12.5 VDC so you have all pins for your project. Aside from that, you will have state-of-the-art fast USB PIC In-System programmer for your future projects.
