With complementary software, 8051prog2 programmer represents a great tool for all those working with Atmel’s 8051 microcontrollers. The microcontroller connects to the 8051prog2 programmer via 6 lines, two of which are +5V and GND and others are MOSI, MISO, SCK and MCLR. Unlike programmers whose operation is based on bootloads (and which need to give away part of their memory to a bootload program) 8051prog2 programs the microcontroller externally so that the entire memory is available for the programmer.

Note: This programmer supports only 8051 microcontrollers with SPI Serial Interface for Program Downloading.

Command Line

Alternatively, you can use the 8051prog2 programmer from the command line. Here are the command line parameters:

• -w Write to 8051
• -v Verify
• -r Read from 8051
• -e Erase 8051
• -p 8051 name (for example AT89S8253, AT89S8353...)
• -f Filename (use " as delimiters)

Examples:

8051Flash.exe -w -pAT89S8253 -v -f"C:\somefile.hex"

This will program the 8051 using C:\somefile.hex and it will verify the write.

8051Flash.exe -r -pAT89S8253

This will read the 8051 contents into on screen buffer.

8051Flash.exe -e -pAT89S8253

This will erase the 8051.
